1000 Flowers

Founded in Canada in 2000, 1000 Flowers began with pure essential oils, botanical skincare, and natural perfumery. Founder Jessica September Buchanan studied fragrance creation at the Grasse Institute of Perfumery in 2007 and interned at Robertet and Mane before choosing to remain in Grasse, where the brand has been established since 2011. Its creative identity centers on botanical materials, natural perfumery, and sustainability-conscious formulation, and the independent company is fully woman-owned and operated, with Buchanan retaining the decisive creative role. A Grasse boutique opened in 2017; in 2024, the brand founded the 1000 Flowers Academy there to offer technical perfumery training combining classical French methods with modern sustainable practices. Its first fragrance, Réglisse Noire, was launched in 2010 and created by Buchanan, and it was included in a Top 25 fragrances of 2010 selection.
