Abaton

Abaton’s history began in 1980, when Isa and Giuliano Abaton acquired a small perfumery in central Savona, Italy. The business grew into a family enterprise and, by 2000, the family had expanded its retail network to ten stores and three beauty centers. Between 2005 and 2006, Abaton shifted its focus toward local niche artistic perfumery, leaving most retail activity to produce and distribute niche cosmetics and fragrance-related products. The Italian family business combines roots in artistic perfumery with development in the United States, selecting and creating niche products distinguished by their histories, raw materials, and artisanal processing. From 2012, it invested in the Chinotto di Savona supply chain and began its own biologically managed cultivation, using the flower and fruit in its creations. The resulting Chinotto collection—Chinotto Dark, Chinotto Gourmand, and Fior di Chinotto—is especially associated with the brand’s Savona roots. In 2021, its solid Chinotto perfumes ranked among the top three entries in a responsible fragrance innovation recognition. Marco Abaton was credited as perfumer and packaging designer for Fior di Chinotto Eau de Parfum, launched in 2022.
