AbdesSalaam Attar

AbdesSalaam Attar is the perfume name of Dominique Dubrana, a French perfumer who lives and works in Italy. After roughly a decade traveling through Africa, the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, Dubrana encountered different fragrance traditions and later converted to Sufism. He began selling pure essential oils in Italy in the late 1980s, then turned to composing his own attars when resale became unsustainable; a reference account dates his perfume work to 1988 and the launch of profumo.it to 1999. He chose La Via del Profumo, meaning “The Way of Perfume,” for his life’s work, which combines composing, studying natural fragrant materials, writing, teaching, and sharing fragrance knowledge. The compositions use only natural fragrant materials and contain no synthetic fragrance ingredients. Dubrana’s work also includes olfactory psychology and natural-perfumery education; in 2015, he resumed teaching after a six-year break. Operating independently, he invented, bottled, and sold fragrances online without a store, corporation, or marketing budget. Oakmoss, or Muschio di Quercia, is identified as one of his best sellers.
