Adolfo Dominguez

Adolfo Dominguez traces its origins to Adolfo Domínguez e Hijos S.L., founded by Adolfo Domínguez’s father in 1974 and transformed into Adolfo Domínguez S.A. in 1976. The brand grew from the family’s El Faro tailoring shop in Ourense, known for menswear, into a broader fashion company. During the 1980s, Adolfo Domínguez introduced the “La arruga es bella” slogan, presented collections at Cibeles, Gaudí and Paris’s Wagram runway, and dressed leading actors of Miami Vice, developments that helped define and internationalize its public identity. In 1997, Adolfo Domínguez became the company’s sole principal shareholder after his siblings sold their shares in connection with its stock-market listing; the brand became the first Spanish fashion brand listed on the stock market, with shares beginning to trade on Spain’s continuous market on 18 March that year. He received Spain’s National Fashion Design Award in 2019 for his professional trajectory and significance in contemporary Spanish fashion. Its fragrance history began with Agua Fresca, launched in 1990; Agua Fresca de Rosas is identified as the line’s signature fragrance, while Agua Fresca masculina and Agua Fresca de Rosas were top-selling fragrances for 20 years.
