Adolfo Fragrances

Adolfo Fragrances belongs to the fashion-design house founded by Adolfo F. Sardiña in New York in 1962, when he opened his own millinery house after training connected with Balenciaga, Bergdorf Goodman, and Emme, with backing from Bill Blass. During the 1960s, the business moved from millinery into clothing; by 1968, Adolfo had developed a reputation for knits and Chanel-inspired cardigan suits. He received a special Coty Award in 1969 for contribution to design from head to toe. The business extended into men’s clothing through Leon of Paris in 1976, while its licensed activities also included perfume; the first Adolfo perfume is documented as launching in 1978. Adolfo closed his custom-design workrooms in 1993 and shifted his focus to licensing. He died in Manhattan in 2021 at age 98. Adolfo Fragrances is currently listed with Paramount Brands Holdings LLC as its parent company.
