Æther
Founded in 2016 by Nicolas Chabot, Æther began as a deliberately different project from his revival of Le Galion, joining an interest in traditional perfumery heritage with an experimental molecular approach. Its original premise, molecular perfumery, called for complete compositions built entirely from synthetic molecules rather than single-molecule formulas; the brand’s current presentation also describes natural ingredients alongside synthetic ones. The debut comprised five fragrances created by Amélie Bourgeois and Anne-Sophie Behaghel under Chabot’s artistic direction. Its bottle concept, credited to designer and art director Jules Dinand, focuses on light, transparency, opacity, shadows, and changing visual effects. Carboneum, one of the debut five, was conceived around coumarin as a futuristic, neoprene-like scent representing the texture and odor of a spacesuit.
