Agar Aura
Agar Aura began around 2009 as a hobby founded by Taha Syed, whose upbringing in Saudi Arabia exposed him to Arabian perfumery and oud shops. The brand initially offered oud oils and occasional oud wood chips before developing Syed’s customized distillations and oud-based blends. Its identity centers on pure agarwood oils from different Far Eastern regions, supported by relationships with distillers in agarwood-producing countries. In 2014, Syed moved from Canada to Malaysia while establishing the wholesale wing Royal Agarwood Co. and working more directly with regional sources and distillers. Agar Aura’s oud oils were publicly organized into four generations, from Gen1 through Gen4, with Berkilau marking the beginning of Gen3. By 2020, its perfumes were described as oud-centric compositions guided by ingredient quality and artistic composition. A formative fragrance was Mukhallat Al-Naqi, an oud-and-rose blend first made for Syed’s fiancée that led to a wider line of oud-based blends. A 2025 company profile describes the brand as focused on rare Southeast Asian oud across oud oils and concentrated perfumes.
