AGUA BRAVA
AGUA BRAVA was launched by Puig in 1968 as a men’s fragrance, emerging from the Barcelona-founded family fragrance company established by Antonio Puig Castelló in 1914. Developed by perfumers Rosendo Mateu and Marcel Carles, it took the form of a Mediterranean men’s eau de cologne, with a fougère profile shaped by sandalwood and patchouli. El País has identified it as an international bestseller, while Puig presents it as a benchmark for Mediterranean men’s eau de cologne and an icon of Spanish perfume design. In 2025, Agua Brava was included in Colonias Absolutas Puig, a collection reinterpreting historical Puig colognes. Created under Jean-Claude Ellena’s direction, the new version gives the original aromatic character a deeper, woodier interpretation and situates the fragrance within Puig’s Mediterranean roots, family heritage, cologne craft, and contemporary perfumery.
