Alain Delon

Alain Delon’s commercial venture began in 1979, and its first recorded fragrance, Delon, followed in 1980 in association with Parfums de Paris. The brand’s fragrance identity draws on Delon’s public image as a French actor and his involvement in conceiving products sold under his name. A major fragrance milestone came with Samourai, created from Delon’s admiration for Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune and introduced in Shibuya in 1997 before spreading through Japan by word of mouth and magazines. Its clean-smelling profile also extended its appeal beyond men to women. Samourai Woman followed in 2000 as a new scent and bottle design derived from the Samourai concept, with a creative idea centered on the strength and integrity of the Japanese Yamato Nadeshiko ideal as interpreted by Delon. Lalique Group acquired the licence for Parfums Alain Delon in 2000 and the brand in 2007.
