Fragrance house
Alford & Hoff
Alford & Hoff was organized as a California corporation in 2006 by Barry Alford and Jefferson Hoffman, former Arizona State University athletes who built the brand around luxury men’s skincare after identifying a gap in male-specific anti-aging products. Developed with cosmetic and plastic surgeon John Gross, its skincare line launched through luxury retail channels in 2008. In 2009, the company entered men’s fine fragrance with Alford & Hoff, its first scent, created by perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux. The financial crisis weakened the skincare business while fragrance continued selling well, leading the company to focus on fragrance and reposition itself as a niche fragrance brand. Its creative identity combines sports, fashion, and fragrance, with both founders closely involved in fragrance development. By November 2016, the brand had launched a third fragrance, developed as a more unconventional, industrial-leaning composition. The original namesake scent is the brand’s strongest documented fragrance association and formed the basis for its later shift toward a fragrance-led identity.
