Fragrance house

Alfred Sung

Established in 1980 by designer Alfred Sung and Canada’s Mimran family, ALFRED SUNG was created as a fashion house for the modern woman. Sung had moved to Toronto in 1972; during the 1970s he opened the Moon clothing store and formed Monaco Group Inc. with Joseph and Saul Mimran. Monaco Group developed and distributed Alfred Sung ready-to-wear across North America, with the label associated with women’s sportswear and later with licensed extensions into fashion and lifestyle categories. The brand’s stated design language is a pure, uncomplicated lifestyle and a timeless approach to beauty and style. Fragrance entered the brand in 1986 through a Riviera Concepts license, which launched SUNG ALFRED SUNG as a prestige women’s fragrance. The brand’s history identifies SUNG as Alfred Sung’s signature scent and describes it as a light, understated floral expression. SHI ALFRED SUNG was developed as a personal expression of Sung’s recovery from stomach cancer and renewed sense of balance, with a water-drop bottle designed by Sung and Jerome Dinand. In 2006, Elizabeth Arden acquired Riviera Concepts assets and licenses including SUNG, SHI, and JEWEL; after Revlon acquired Elizabeth Arden in 2016, those licenses moved within Revlon’s beauty portfolio. Today, the ALFRED SUNG trademark is registered to Mimran Group, while its beauty and fragrance collection is licensed under Elizabeth Arden.
