Alqvimia
Founded in 1984 by perfumer and aromatherapy practitioner Idili Lizcano at Can Duran, a farmhouse in La Garrotxa, Catalonia, Alqvimia’s origins remain rooted there. Before founding the brand, Lizcano developed an alchemical laboratory in Granada’s Alpujarra, working with medicinal plants to create essences, perfumes and cosmetics. Alqvimia was shaped by plant-based ingredients, aromatherapy and alchemical traditions, alongside a concept of beauty addressing physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. The brand began international expansion in 1991, with later activity particularly associated with Asian markets including Hong Kong. After Lizcano died in 2024, Drolma Lizcano and her brother Siddaharta carried forward his legacy. Its fragrance history includes Queen of Egypt, created by Lizcano more than 30 years before 2021 and drawing on ancient Egyptian beauty and perfumery traditions, especially incense and myrrh. The range is described as an enduring brand icon and as one of Lizcano’s earliest notable ranges.
