Altaia

Altaia was founded by Marina Sersale and Sebastián Alvarez Murena, the couple behind Eau d’Italie. They met in Italy in 2001 and created Eau d’Italie in 2004 before developing Altaia as a separate perfume collection. In 2012, discovering a connection between their families in Argentina inspired them to create Altaia, whose first editions appeared in 2015. The name is an acronym for “A Long Time Ago In Argentina,” referring to the historical connection between the Morrison and Mitre families. Each Eau de Parfum is presented as a scent-linked story drawn from the founders’ interlaced past and present, with minimalist packaging designed to let the fragrances speak for themselves. Don’t Cry For Me draws on Alvarez Murena’s memories of Buenos Aires, By Any Other Name reflects Sersale’s English family history, and Yu Son symbolizes the couple’s first encounter. The first three fragrances were created by Daphné Bugey, with later documented collaborations including Olivier Cresp, Annick Menardo, Coralie Spicher, and Nathalie Lorson.
