Fragrance house
Alyssa Ashley
Alyssa Ashley was created in 1969 by Enrico Donati under the House of Houbigant, in honour of his daughter Alyssa, who had arrived the previous year. The brand originated from the combination of Donati’s figurative art and perfumery, presenting fragrance as an emotional form of visual expression. Its founding-era identity was associated with rebellion, independence, female emancipation, acceptance of individual differences, and freedom of personal expression. The fragrances were presented as genderless, an approach described as characteristic of the brand before that terminology became common. The Perris family’s connection to the parent house began in 1981, when Michele Perris opened a distribution company for Houbigant brands; the family acquired Houbigant Paris in 2005, and Consuelo Perris took control of Alyssa Ashley in 2019. Musk is the brand’s defining fragrance and was the first Alyssa Ashley scent described as becoming an icon, achieving international success that nearly gave it a separate identity. It also became the basis for later musk interpretations including Cedro Musk and Rose Musk.
