Amika

Founded in 2007 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, by industry outsiders, amika built its identity around self-expression, individuality, inclusion, and collaboration, rejecting conventional ideals of beauty perfection. The brand began with colorful styling tools designed as accessories before shifting toward primarily haircare while retaining its professional and salon-oriented foundation. Its first haircare line arrived in 2011 with six products, and amika later became associated with colorful packaging and a distinctive fragrance. On May 12, 2022, Bansk Group announced an agreement to acquire a majority stake in amika and Eva NYC; the deal was amika’s first outside investment, with the brands continuing as individual brands after closing. In 2023, amika became B Corp Certified. Fragrance is a notable part of the brand’s identity: a signature scent is shared across its formulas, with pink grapefruit, apricot, and warm vanilla at its center. In August 2025, that scent was bottled as amika:aura hair and body mist.
