Amway
Founded in 1959 in Ada, Michigan, by Rich DeVos and Jay Van Andel, Amway began with Frisk Liquid Organic Cleaner Concentrate, later named L.O.C., an early biodegradable multipurpose cleaner. The company developed as a direct-selling business in which independent business owners sell products directly to consumers. In 1968, Amway introduced Artistry, a beauty line spanning skincare, makeup, fragrance, and body products, and later expanded the brand internationally. In 1972, Amway acquired Nutrilite, expanding its nutrition business. Today, Amway is a family-owned, entrepreneur-led health and wellbeing company owned by the Van Andel and DeVos families, with nutrition, beauty, and home products at the center of its identity.
