Animale
Founded in 1987 by Suzanne de Lyon, Animale Parfums began with the launch of its namesake women’s fragrance. Its early visual identity combined a lightning-bolt bottle with saturated pink, blue, and turquoise packaging, feline makeup in magazine advertising, and the tagline “Unleash it!”. After de Lyon’s company entered bankruptcy proceedings in March 1990, Parlux acquired the brand that year; Parlux later sold it to The Animale Group in 2004. The fragrance line expanded with Animale for Men in 1993, followed by further men’s and women’s releases. Animale’s clearest fragrance legacy is its 1987 debut, a chypre with woody, floral, green, mossy, musky, and animalic accords. An editorial review describes it as an “unavoidable icon” for vintage chypre lovers, while reference sources identify it as the house’s first release.
