Ann Demeulemeester
Ann Demeulemeester established her own fashion label in 1985 with her husband and creative partner, photographer Patrick Robyn. As one of the Antwerp Six, she was part of the group whose presentation at London’s British Designer Show in 1986 brought international attention to Antwerp fashion. The label’s first commercial collection followed in 1987, and its first Paris fashion show took place in 1992. Demeulemeester left the label in 2013, selecting Sébastien Meunier to continue its design language through layered silhouettes, restrained colour, and poetic references. In 2020, Antonioli Group took over the brand, with Claudio Antonioli identified as the acquiring owner. Its identity centers on an evolving, personal approach to dressing, with integrity, independence, and collaboration across photography, music, curating, and art. In September 2023, the brand introduced A, its first fragrance, a unisex perfume translating the recurring tension between light and shadow, strength and poetry, into scent.
