Anna

Anna Sui established her fashion label in 1981 after a small self-produced collection attracted orders from Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s. She presented her first runway show in 1991, while the brand’s creative identity developed through Sui’s research into vintage styles and cultural history, alongside influences from New York’s fashion, photography, art, music, and design scenes. Her Spring 1993 collection drew strongly on Seattle’s grunge music scene and introduced the label’s first menswear designs. Sui received the CFDA Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009, and a book about her work was published by Chronicle Books in 2010. The World of Anna Sui exhibition opened in London in 2017 before traveling to additional cities. Independently owned since its inception, the brand is owned entirely by Sui. Anna Sui entered fragrance and cosmetics in 1999; rose has remained a recurring olfactory theme, from the first signature fragrance through the five-scent Wild Wonder collection, launched in 2024 for the 25th anniversary of Anna Sui Fragrances.
