Anna Sui

Anna Sui launched her first collection in 1981 after studying at Parsons School of Design, working with stylist and photographer Steven Meisel, and designing for sportswear companies. Her business grew during the 1980s, followed by a first runway show in 1991 with help from Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista. The show earned international acclaim, and the CFDA later recognized Sui with the Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent in 1993 and the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009. Her creative identity combines research into vintage styles and cultural history with contemporary references, including Victorian lace, hippie flowers, punk denim, vintage fashion, and music. Anna Sui has remained independently owned since 1981, with Sui controlling the business. Its fragrance business began with Classic Eau de Toilette, launched about 25 years before 2024. In 2024, the brand marked 25 years of beauty with Wild Wonder, a five-fragrance collection centered on different interpretations of the rose and launched alongside the Spring 2025 fashion collection.
