Annette Neuffer

Annette Neuffer launched her small perfume business in 2014 after years of fragrance experimentation. Based in Freising, Germany, it is a one-woman enterprise led by Neuffer, a self-taught perfumer. Its creative identity is grounded in perfumes made entirely from natural raw materials, without synthetic fragrance compounds; the official materials also describe them as handmade and cruelty-free. Neuffer’s work as a jazz musician connects the fragrances with music and poetry, which supplied concepts for compositions including Stardust and Sonnet 18. Avicenna, her first composition, is among the brand’s best-known fragrances: Luca Turin included it in his Top Ten List in Perfumes: The Guide 2018, and it is described as a spicy oriental rose. Rose-centered and resinous, amber-oriented compositions recur across the collection, including Avicenna and the Per Fumum series.
