Antonia's Flowers
Antonia’s Flowers began with Antonia Bellanca’s work as a florist. After opening a flower shop in East Hampton, Long Island, in 1981, Bellanca developed fragrances, and the brand launched its first scent in 1984 following about 18 months of experimentation and roughly 150 trial combinations. Its creative identity centers on reproducing the scent of living flowers, particularly freesia, through headspace technology. Bellanca approached IFF about freesia, and chief perfumer Bernard Chant’s headspace analysis of the flower enabled development of the first fragrance. Bellanca closed the flower shop in 1990 to focus on fragrance. The brand became known for its eponymous freesia-centered scent, which was described as a sensation at launch and had been much imitated by 1999. After a temporary closure, Antonia’s Flowers announced a return in 2025 centered on a relaunch of Tiempe Passate, identified as one of its most successful fragrances; Antonia’s Flowers Redux is also in development.
