Apivita

Founded in Athens in 1979 by pharmacists Niki and Nikos Koutsianas, Apivita creates natural cosmetics inspired by Greek biodiversity and bee society. Its name combines the Latin words for bee and life, meaning “life of the bee,” while its identity brings together bee-derived ingredients, Greek botanical resources, and scientific formulation. The brand launched its first black soap with propolis in 1979, and the product remains on the market. In 1980, it created its first therapeutic-shampoo line in glass pharmaceutical bottles, a signature feature of the brand. Its Express Beauty monodose masks and scrubs use Mediterranean plant and fruit extracts alongside bee products, while the Queen Bee range followed five years of research and a patent for royal-jelly encapsulation technology. In 2017, Puig Family investment companies acquired Apivita, which joined the Puig portfolio in 2021. The Royal Honey body-care range has a honey-centered signature scent built around a natural aromatic extract intended to preserve honey’s characteristic olfactory identity.
