Armand Basi
Armand Basi’s story begins with the Basi business, whose origins date to 1944, when Mercedes Sabi established an artisan knitwear workshop in Barcelona. The label’s identity is tied to Barcelona and its culture, alongside support for young talent, local production, material and production quality, sustainability, and provocative, innovative design. It later moved beyond apparel into fragrances, footwear, and other lifestyle products, a development connected with its first London store. In 1998, Armand Basi received the Antoni Gaudí medal for its contribution to Catalan fashion, followed by France’s Legion of Honour for the company in 1999. The brand introduced By Basi in 2009 as a younger line. Recent creative work includes Project 01, presented in 2022 under Eva Basi with designer Joan Ros, and a 2023 capsule collaboration with Per Götesson. In fragrance, the In Red family launched in 2003, was created by Alberto Morillas, expanded to eight variations, and has retained loyal fans. On January 31, 2025, Give Back Beauty and Angelini Industries announced an agreement for Give Back Beauty to acquire AB Parfums, including Armand Basi’s fragrance license.
