Aromachology
Aromachology launched in Toronto in 2009, founded by sisters-in-law Ashlee Firsten and Kirsten Menkes. Drawing on backgrounds in beauty marketing and fashion and design, the founders created the company after becoming dissatisfied with standardized perfumes. Its identity centered on personalized fragrance: customers completed a personality-based scent profile, chose from five fragrance families and mood-associated accords, and received a custom blend. Firsten and Menkes developed this personality-to-scent matching concept and personally blended fragrances for customers. In 2010, Aromachology marked its first anniversary period with a presence at the Toronto International Film Festival and appearances for its custom-fragrance experience at events and retail settings. The following year, it extended the offer beyond custom perfume with a bath-and-body line. Aromachology’s fragrance legacy rests not on a single named signature scent but on its customizable perfume system, including Floral, Gourmand, Oriental, Fresh, and Woodsy families.
