Aromantik
Aromantik is a natural perfume studio started in 2010 by independent natural perfumer and designer Sally Woodward-Hawes. Independent and Australian-owned, the business produces perfumes handmade in Sydney, with fragrances hand-blended in small batches from internationally sourced essential oils, isolates and absolutes. Woodward-Hawes’s design and art-direction background informs the studio’s creative foundation, while her approach connects fragrance with memory and personal identity. Her development process draws on emotions, landscapes, memories and raw materials, and can take weeks or years. In 2011, Aromantik sold through markets and online, developing limited-edition runs and responding to customer feedback. A 2016 profile recorded seven signature fragrances, with Woodward-Hawes as perfumer behind the range. Merchants of Menace is Aromantik’s signature musk, developed over years in part because natural ingredients were difficult to source. In 2020, Tropique Narcotique won first place in the perfume category at the Clean Beauty Awards.
