Ataraxia Perfumery

Ataraxia Perfumery was publicly introduced in December 2024 as a Romanian artistic perfumery house based in Bucharest. Its owner and creative director, Tudor Ristea, studied philosophy at Imperial College London, previously created content about Romanian niche perfumery, and composes metal-punk music. The house uses perfume to express human trauma and pairs perfumery with music to encourage discussion of mental health. Its launch comprised two creations made with Toskovat’ and perfumer David-Lev Jipa-Slivinschi, connecting themes of memory and trauma with Ristea’s creative direction. By 2025, official product pages credited Sy Truong as perfumer for Deity and Spinal Fluid, marking a later creative phase distinct from the 2024 collaboration. In 2026, Ataraxia is described publicly as a niche fragrance brand focused on unusual, art-oriented olfactory work, with Ristea continuing as owner and creative director. Deity was selected as a finalist in the Independent Category of the 2026 Art and Olfaction Awards, with Truong listed as perfumer and Ristea as creative director.
