Atelier Versace

Atelier Versace is the haute-couture label of the Versace fashion house, whose couture shows were staged during Paris haute-couture week from 1989; its first Paris show took place in January 1990. The wider Versace house was founded by Gianni Versace in 1978 and is associated with freedom, self-expression, independence, Italian artisanship, strength, sensuality, and Mediterranean values. Gianni shaped Atelier Versace’s early couture identity through bold colour and pattern combinations, contrasts such as leather and lace, and signature metal mesh. After his death in 1997, Donatella Versace became creative director and shaped the house’s subsequent identity through its silhouettes, prints, Medusa, and Greca motifs. In 2025, she was replaced by Dario Vitale, becoming chief brand ambassador, while Prada Group completed its acquisition of Versace on 2 December. In February 2026, Prada Group and Versace announced that Pieter Mulier would become chief creative officer from 1 July 2026. Atelier Versace’s fragrance offering includes a six-fragrance, genderless collection launched in 2019, including Cédrat de Diamante and Vanille Rouge, presented as an olfactory interpretation of bespoke tailoring, excellence, and Italianness.
