Babēl

Babēl is a Netherlands-based niche fragrance brand associated with Babette Lepke. The house grew from Lepke’s personal search for a perfume expressing the feel of cashmere, her preferred material. After attending a two-week perfume summer school in Grasse and meeting Anne McClain at a New York perfume master class, Lepke worked with McClain to develop the initial formula in McClain’s Williamsburg workshop, then refined it for two years. Babēl’s debut was presented in May 2014. Its creative identity centers on a personal, cashmere-inspired interpretation of fragrance with a gender-inclusive, androgynous character. Reference records identify one fragrance for the house: Babēl, released in 2014, an androgynous perfume built around the cashmere concept.
