Baby Phat

Baby Phat launched in 1999 as a women-focused streetwear brand associated with Kimora Lee Simmons, originating as the womenswear counterpart to Russell Simmons’s Phat Farm. Under Kimora Lee Simmons’s creative direction, it developed a women-tailored, hip-hop-influenced style marked by fitted pieces and the cat logo, then grew from apparel into children’s wear, lingerie, footwear, and other categories. Its public identity in the 2000s was reinforced by high-profile runway presentations and visibility within hip-hop culture, before the brand ceased operations in 2010 after Kimora’s departure. Kimora reacquired Baby Phat in 2019 and announced a relaunch framed as a family creative project with daughters Ming and Aoki Lee Simmons. Fragrance became part of the line in 2005 with Baby Phat Goddess, created with Coty; the debut marked the brand’s entry into fragrance and remained closely associated with its fragrance identity in later coverage.
