Baldessarini
Baldessarini was founded by HUGO BOSS AG in 1993/1994 as a men’s luxury label, named for Werner Baldessarini, who became its creative figure after serving as Hugo Boss’s chief designer and a member of its board. Its stated aesthetic joins independence, freedom and an epicurean lifestyle to menswear influenced by 1970s Hollywood, with visual references to daisies and Granny Smith apples. Werner Baldessarini received the Michael Award for best men’s designer in 1996, and Karl Lagerfeld photographed the brand’s Spring/Summer 1998 catalogue. Ownership shifted in 2004 when Baldessarini became a wholly owned HUGO BOSS subsidiary, and again in 2006 when HUGO BOSS sold it to Ahlers AG. A 2021 relaunch adopted the theme “New Hollywood” and included the brand’s first digital fashion show. Baldessarini entered fragrance in 2002 with Eau de Cologne, which received two 2003 FiFi recognitions for best perfume and flacon. On 19 May 2026, S.OLIVER GROUP acquired the trademark rights and announced plans to relaunch Baldessarini as an independent brand within its House of Brands in early 2027.
