Balmain Hair Couture
Balmain Hair Couture began in 1974 through a collaboration between Pierre Balmain and Dutch wigmaker Dick Guliker, who created hairpieces to complement Balmain’s clothing. In 2000, it became Balmain Hair and was positioned as the beauty division of the Balmain Paris fashion house, while the two companies remained separate and closely connected. Steward and Richard Guliker took over the ownership and leadership of Balmain Hair in 2011. From its origins in wigs and hairpieces, the brand developed into a broader luxury haircare, styling and accessory business. Its collections are designed in direct connection with Balmain’s runway and backstage work, aligning with the fashion presented each season. Nabil Harlow developed hair designs and trends alongside Olivier Rousteing to complete Balmain Paris runway looks. Balmain Hair marked its 50th anniversary in 2024 with a heritage-focused campaign. Its Signature Fragrance is used across almost all Care & Styling products, except Balmain Homme, and is also sold as a hair perfume; Balmain Homme provides a second oriental-woody scent profile.
