Barbara Orbison

Barbara Orbison, born Barbara Anne Marie Wellhöner Jakobs in Bielefeld, Germany, met Roy Orbison in Leeds in 1968, married him the following year, and raised their sons in Nashville and Malibu. After Roy Orbison’s death in 1988, she managed his career and worked to preserve and expand his musical legacy, while establishing Still Working Music in Nashville and building a wider music-business portfolio alongside her work on his estate. Her major legacy projects included co-producing the 2008 four-CD set Roy Orbison: The Soul of Rock and Roll and the stage musical Only the Lonely: The Roy Orbison Story. She also created the Pretty Woman Perfume company and launched its first fragrance, Pretty Woman, in 2009, participating in its blend, bottle design, marketing, sales, and promotion. Pretty Woman is the sole fragrance listed for the brand and is associated with a floral, spicy, and woody profile. Barbara died of pancreatic cancer on December 6, 2011; production continued afterward, with marketing later resumed by the Orbison family, and Orbison Productions carried on through her sons Wesley, Roy Jr., and Alex.
