BARÇA

BARÇA, the commonly used name for FC Barcelona, traces its history to the club’s founding on 29 November 1899 by Joan Gamper and eleven other men from Switzerland, England, Germany and Catalonia. The name appeared in print by December 1921, originally as “Barsa.” Rooted in Barcelona and Catalan culture while presenting itself as open to the world, the club articulates its identity through respect, effort, ambition, teamwork and humility. Its blue-and-garnet colours, known as blaugrana, have formed part of its team identity for more than a century. Barça operates under a member-owned model that preserves an independent institutional structure. Its history includes the inauguration of Camp Nou in 1957, a first European Cup in 1992 during the Dream Team era, and three Champions League victories during the 2008–2020 period. In June 2026, it introduced an AI-created olfactory identity developed with SCIRCLE through Barça Identity and the Barça Innovation Hub. The initiative produced the New Season collection, beginning with For the Timeless and For the Passionate, the first fragrances built from the club’s official olfactory DNA.
