bareMinerals

bareMinerals launched in 1995 under founder Leslie Blodgett, with an identity centered on mineral makeup and skin-improving benefits. Its parent company, Bare Escentuals, was founded in California in 1976; the line entered QVC in 1997, where televised selling and customer testimonials helped make direct communication part of the brand’s public identity. Bare Escentuals completed an IPO in 2006. Shiseido announced its agreement to acquire Bare Escentuals on January 15, 2010, with the acquisition becoming effective on March 8. During Shiseido’s ownership, bareMinerals emphasized clean, natural, mineral-based makeup and a “Power of Good” mission connected to community and environmental initiatives. Shiseido agreed to sell the brand and related businesses to an entity owned by Advent International on August 25, 2021; the transfer closed on December 6, creating the Orveon brand group. Orveon Global US LLC currently operates the bareMinerals website. The original Loose Mineral Foundation is the brand’s defining product example, tied to its foundational mineral-makeup identity and launched with five clean mineral ingredients.
