Fragrance house

Battistoni

Battistoni was founded in Rome in 1946 by Guglielmo Battistoni, who began the house at 61A Via Condotti as a shirtmaker and atelier. The atelier developed beyond a boutique into a salon and meeting place associated with artists, designers, writers, and film figures, while the house’s identity remains rooted in Roman tailoring, craftsmanship, and classical elegance. Battistoni diversified from its core menswear into womenswear and fragrance; in November 1999, Creation was presented during an exhibition at the Battistoni maison in Rome, continuing the house’s connection between art and fashion. Marte is the clearest defining fragrance example: its bottle was built from a Renato Guttuso drawing and transformed into glass by Pierre Dinand, and the fragrance became an icon from the 1990s onward.
