Baylis & Harding
Baylis & Harding traces its origins to 1970, when David Slater and Marcia Simmons began a family cosmetics business in the British Midlands. Originally known as Midlands Cosmetic Sales, the company was incorporated as Baylis & Harding Public Limited Company in 1978 and adopted the Baylis & Harding name in 2002. That name honors the founders’ mothers or grandmothers, remembered within the brand story as Granny Baylis and Granny Harding. In 2005, ownership passed to their children, Adrian and Tania Slater, who rebranded and developed the business under its present name. Baylis & Harding remains family-owned and British, with a product identity centered on hand washes, bath and body care, and gift sets that bring fragranced everyday-use products into the home. Its more recent positioning has included plant-based or naturally derived products, recyclable or reusable gift packaging, and efforts to reduce packaging. The brand marked 50 years in business in 2020. In fragrance, the Signature collection is presented as its most iconic collection; Sweet Mandarin & Grapefruit is a recurring example, while Oud, Cedar & Amber became the brand’s bestselling fragrance globally after the Goodness collection launched.
