Be. Colônias began in the mid-2000s in Rio de Janeiro’s Jardim Botânico neighborhood, where Anna Beatriz Londres made the first colognes at home. She conceived the brand around a perceived lack of fresh, good-quality colognes suited to everyday use. The business developed as a family enterprise, with Londres working alongside her sons Luiz Roberto Couto and Luiz Fernando Couto, and grew from home production into a broader Brazilian fragrance business that underwent branding and market-positioning reformulations over its first two decades. Londres created Be. Verde, the first cologne, with help from her aunt, a career chemist, and is identified as its perfumer. As the range expanded, Be. Azul was identified as the brand’s sales champion, while Be. Verde and Be. Laranja were also described as especially important fragrances for its audience. Be. Colônias is a Brazilian-made, cruelty-free fragrance brand.
