Fragrance house

Beaufort London

Beaufort London was founded in 2013 by musician Leo Crabtree, whose early experiences at sea and interest in the British elements shaped the brand’s origins. It began with handmade moustache wax before turning to fragrance as Crabtree explored its storytelling potential. Smoke forms the house’s olfactory identity, evoking real or imagined memories through the idea of perfume as “through smoke.” In 2015, Beaufort introduced its first fragrance collection, Come Hell Or High Water, with Tonnerre, Coeur De Noir and Vi et Armis—an inaugural trio rooted in British maritime history and darker themes. Crabtree’s creative process draws on history, literature and poetry, building fragrances around a story kernel and often using highly concentrated ingredients to create arresting compositions. The brand’s named collections also include Revenants, added in 2017, and Force Majeure, introduced in 2024.
