Beekman 1802

Founded in 2009 by Dr. Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell in Sharon Springs, New York, Beekman 1802 grew out of the founders’ move to the Beekman farm, where they took in a neighboring farmer’s goats and began making goat-milk soap. An early milestone was the first Beekman 1802 Harvest Fest, held in September 2009 to support the revitalization of Upstate New York and bring regional small businesses, artisans, and vendors together. In May 2015, the brand launched its first goat-milk skincare line and later described a move toward clinically tested skincare focused on the skin barrier and microbiome. Its stated identity centers on skin health, Goat Milk, and Kindness, alongside a mission to create a kinder world. Ridge’s medical background and Kilmer-Purcell’s writing and marketing experience shaped the brand’s science-led skincare storytelling and community-oriented communication.
