Fragrance house
Biehl
Biehl Parfumkunstwerke was founded in Hamburg by Thorsten Biehl, who remains its initiator and owner. Before establishing the fragrance business, Biehl worked for more than 16 years at Haarmann & Reimer, now Symrise; the brand has been based in Berlin since 2009. Biehl describes its model as an olfactory gallery, presenting perfume artists’ creations without treating market research, marketing, or maximum margins as primary constraints. In this structure, the perfumer’s authorship is central: Biehl acts as curator or gallerist, selecting perfumers and deciding which works join the brand. The early creative group included Arturetto Landi, Egon Oelkers, Geza Schön, Mark Buxton, Henning Biehl, and Patricia Choux. Biehl’s fragrance identity rests on presenting individually authored perfume works while making the participating perfumers’ differing styles, methods, and olfactory preferences visible.
