Biehl Parfumkunstwerke

Founded by Thorsten Biehl in the mid-2000s, Biehl Parfumkunstwerke was created after his more than 16-year career at Haarmann & Reimer, now Symrise, with the aim of developing original compositions with international perfumers. The brand presents itself as an olfactory gallery and free space for perfume artists, with Biehl acting as curator and selecting works rather than composing the fragrances himself. Its minimalist presentation gives each fragrance the perfumer’s initials and a sequential work number, while the packaging keeps attention on the perfume. The roster includes Arturetto Landi, Egon Oelkers, Geza Schön, Mark Buxton, Patricia Choux, and Henning Biehl, Thorsten’s father, whose hb01 marked his contribution to the brand after a perfumery career that began in 1958. In 2015, the brand connected perfume with visual art through “Duft trifft Kunst,” presenting interpretations of gs03, gs01, and mb03 in exhibitions in Berlin and Hamburg. Thorsten Biehl remains identified as the brand’s initiator and owner.
