Binet-Papillon

Binet-Papillon is a perfume house created by Virginie Choné. Its story began with the independent brand Papillon Rouge, which merged with Maison Binet during the COVID-19 confinement period; an editorial account describes the transaction as Papillon Rouge’s purchase of the historic Binet brand, followed by a complete redesign. Maison Binet’s historical narrative is tied to the Binet family’s association with French perfumery and to Sylvestre Binet, described as an eighteenth-century Paris master perfumer. The post-merger identity draws on seventeenth- and eighteenth-century Paris, including packaging that uses an old map of Paris. Binet-Papillon’s creative philosophy combines traditional French high perfumery with personal emotional expression and an eco-responsible approach. Choné develops the fragrances with self-taught perfumer Jean Sauvage, who designs exclusively for the house. In its fragrance story, N°1 Alkemist Pepper is Choné’s signature fragrance, while N°7 Rose Impolie is the fragrance she is most proud of.
