Biomaris
Founded in 1937 by Bremen merchant Walter Brachmann, BIOMARIS began when he introduced a Helgoland seawater health drink at the Leipzig Fair. Its early identity centered on seawater health treatments, including a drinking-treatment hall opened on Borkum in 1946. During the 1960s and early 1970s, the business moved from seawater drinks toward facial and body care, adding seawater-based skin cream and broader personal-care products. BIOMARIS’s identity is health and beauty from the sea: its Thalasso cosmetics are based on deep seawater, sea salt, and marine algae and are developed in Bremen. From the mid-1950s to 1982, the MS BIOMARIS Atlantik transported seawater to Bremen; afterward, the company sourced deep seawater from a North Atlantic current near Greenland. In 2016, BIOMARIS introduced a new visual identity and progressively redesigned its packaging. Its flagship skin cream, introduced roughly six decades ago, is a long-standing core product used in German dermatology clinics for aftercare, including psoriasis aftercare.
