Bipha Ayurveda
Bipha Ayurveda began in 1929 in Ochira, South Kerala, as SGA Pharmacy, founded by Ayurvedic physician Sri Koshy Varghese, known as Pappy Vaidyar. The pharmacy moved to Erattupetta and then to Kottayam in the 1930s. Pappy Vaidyar combined Gurukul-trained Ayurvedic knowledge with scientific methods, formulation development, and processing innovation. From a single Ayurvedic pharmacy, the business evolved into a broader group spanning Ayurveda, healthcare, research-backed wellness, clinical care, retail, and exports. In 1971, it developed a method for converting Kashaya, or bitter liquid extracts, into more palatable tablet formulations. Bipha Ayurveda’s identity now brings together Kerala-rooted Ayurveda, traditional formulation principles, and modern certified pharmaceutical processes, with activities including personal care and wellness as well as healthcare. Bipha Drug Laboratories remains a family-owned private limited company led by Pappy Vaidyar’s descendants.
