Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab traces its earlier project to 1999 and identifies its current iteration as dating from 2002. Founded by Elizabeth Moriarty Barrial and Brian Constantine, who remain the brand’s perfumers and co-owners, it began by selling hand-blended perfume oils online. Its in-house scents draw on mythology, archetypes, folklore, poetry, visual art, history, music, drama, and pop culture, often translating literary characters, settings, and stories into perfume. The brand’s collaborations and licensed properties include works by Neil Gaiman, as well as Hellboy, Labyrinth, Fraggle Rock, The Last Unicorn, Pretty Deadly, and Only Lovers Left Alive. Since its inception, BPAL has also supported disaster relief, environmental causes, civil liberties, reproductive rights, LGBTQ communities, and other marginalized groups. Snake Oil is described as the brand’s most popular and signature scent, while Dorian is identified as one of its best-sellers.
