Fragrance house
blackbarts
Black Barts emerged in 2017 as a Brazilian brand focused on beard and hair products, based in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo. Its business idea followed founder Fernando Sichieri’s experience at a barber shop, where barber Bruno had developed beard oils and balms; Sichieri proposed a partnership combining financial support with Bruno’s technical knowledge. The initial operation produced 100 units of each item, developed a beard shampoo and proprietary essence, and sold its products to barber shops. The company later formalized its business, outsourced production to a cosmetics manufacturer to meet sanitary requirements, and expanded into broader men’s grooming products. In June 2019, Sichieri left his previous employment to work full-time on Black Barts. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the brand shifted more heavily toward online sales after previously operating primarily through barber shops. Its name references the Welsh pirate Bartholomew Roberts, while its brand language presents customers as part of a shared pirate crew. Fragrance is an important part of its identity: the scent of an early barbershop test product drew customer attention and was retained across its products. Bóreas, the brand’s first perfume, launched in November 2021 and is described as an oriental-spicy fragrance featuring Australian sandalwood.
