Fragrance house

Blackbird

Established in 2004, Blackbird began as a men’s clothing store in Seattle founded by Nicole Miller before expanding into scent-focused retail and fragrance design. Miller encountered niche perfumery through the store and began creating scents for Blackbird, with designer Henry Aesoph collaborating in the development of its perfumes. Today, Blackbird is a fragrance design house specializing in perfumes and incense. Its creative practice treats perfume as art, using playful provocation, unusual combinations, and sensory challenges to shape the experience of wearing scent. The brand’s fragrance work includes Broken Glass, one of Blackbird’s best sellers in 2016, and Y06-S, which Fragrantica critic Miguel Matos selected as his top pick at Esxence 2018. Y06-S’s banana-and-electronics concept reflects Blackbird’s unconventional approach to fragrance design.
