Blackcliff
Founded in Barbados in 2021 by native Barbadian Tomilson Bynoe, Blackcliff draws its identity from the island’s landscapes, culture, memories, ocean, cliffs, flora, fauna, and surf. Its first fragrance collection launched in December of that year, shaped by Bynoe’s creative direction and composed by American perfumers Kyle Mott-Kannenberg and Justin Frederico. Bynoe’s fragrance practice grew from a personal passion that began in adolescence, alongside his experience as a fragrance collector and fine-retail professional. The brand’s rock-inspired bottles represent the cliff where Bynoe and his family live, as well as the night-sky setting in which the Blackcliff concept was conceived. In 2023, Flamingo became the first perfume from Barbados nominated for an Institute for Art and Olfaction award. Sexy Eyes was identified as Blackcliff’s most popular scent in a 2024 interview. In 2025, Blackcliff hosted a booth at ScentXplore as the first Caribbean-owned fragrance brand to do so.
