Blauer
Blauer traces its origins to 1936, when Louis Blauer founded Blauer Manufacturing as a contract sewing company serving Boston-area department stores. After Maurice Blauer returned in 1950, the company developed its own label and expanded civilian rainwear distribution to department stores across the United States. That apparel evolved into law-enforcement clothing after the Massachusetts State Police requested a navy version of a lightweight military raincoat, which became Blauer’s first law-enforcement garment. During the 1970s, as military forces downsized, Blauer shifted from supplying the armed forces to focusing exclusively on the public-safety market. In 2000, it signed an exclusive partnership with Italian fashion house FGF to license authentic Blauer designs for European fashion garments. FGF recast the brand’s American military and workwear heritage through updated shapes, colors, and materials, while Enzo Fusco helped shape its fashion identity by pairing police and military references with an Italian interpretation. In 2026, FGF marked 25 years of the relationship with the Family Grammar exhibition. Blauer’s fragrance history includes licensed lines introduced in 2016 and United, launched in 2017 through a licensing agreement with Venice Olfactory.
